驚異的な写実力を武器に人体と機械の美を追求した作品で、国内外で伝説的な存在となっているアーティスト。その名を世に知らしめた作品「セクシーロボット」シリーズ(1978年-)では、女性の人体美をロボットに取り込んだ表現で、その後のロボットのイメージ形成に大きな影響を与えた。ソニーが開発したエンターテイメントロボット「AIBO」(1999)のコンセプトデザインを手掛け、世界的ロックバンド、エアロスミスの「Just Push Play」(2001)のアルバムカバーを手掛けたことでも知られている。また、昨年には、DIOR MEN'sコレクションでキムジョーンズとのコラボレーションを発表した。近年、その作品は、人種の壁、永遠の命、テクノロジーと美の融合、人工知能といった現代社会の様々なテーマとともに更に副義的に語られ、「The Universe and Art」(Mori Museum, Tokyo, 2016、Art Science Museum, Singapore, 2017)、「Cool Japan」(オランダ国立世界文化圏博物館,2018)といった展覧会で広く世界中の美術館で発表されている。NANZUKA所属。 www.sorayama.jp




Hajime Sorayama is a legendary artist known in Japan and overseas for his work dedicated to the pursuit of the beauty of human body and the machine with an astonishing hyper realistic style. World widely renowned for the Sexy Robot series (1978), a representation of the woman beauty transposed to a robot that had a great influence on the perception of the robot image; he is also known for the design conception of Sony's entertainment robot "AIBO" (1999) and the cover of Aerosmith's rock album "Just Push Play" (2001).
